The episode begins with the gang celebrating Rachel's return with a welcome-home party. However, things quickly become chaotic when Rachel realizes she misses her daughter Emma while she is sleeping. In her attempt to soothe her feelings, Rachel wakes Emma up, but this leads to Emma staying awake and causing more trouble for her mother. Meanwhile, Chandler is dealing with his own stress, as he has an important meeting coming up. After a sleepless night, he accidentally falls asleep during the meeting, leading to a surprising decision that could change his job situation.

As the story unfolds, Chandler wakes up just in time to agree to a transfer to Tulsa, Oklahoma, but Monica is not happy about it. They find themselves in a conflict as Chandler's management insists on the move. Meanwhile, Ross is struggling with his feelings about Joey's accidental engagement to Rachel. In a series of humorous attempts to confront Joey, Ross ends up injuring himself when Joey ducks away from a punch, resulting in a broken thumb. Joey, oblivious to the seriousness of the situation, continues to create more chaos for Ross. In the end, Monica, taking on her superhero persona, manages to calm Emma down and get her back to sleep, bringing some peace back to the group amidst all the chaos.
